Back from vacation

Published by Kara at 5:41 am under Random Ramblings, Tedious Tuesday Edit This

My lovely husband and I have just returned from vacationing. It was a wonderful few days and something that we truly needed. Thanks in part to Robbie’s younger brother who graduated from Marine Boot Camp (hoorah!). We’re all so very proud of him. It’s amazing how the military takes a young kid and turns him into a respectful young man. It was emotional to see him so grown up.

When we left, I really thought our vacation was going to stink a big one. Literally. We’ve been planning and budgeting for this trip for months. We found hotels that would allow us to do some cooking in the room, which would have been great, if I hadn’t have bough deli turkey meat. In case you are unaware, deli turkey meat tends to smell, well, unpleasant. Our coolers were packed to the rim and turkey smell kept wafting into the car. Foul doesn’t begin to explain it. And, did I mention we got lost like a blue-million times? Bro-in-law graduated from the Parris Island area and who ever came up with the layout must have wanted to make it as difficult as possible to get there. At one point I remember (after a 12 hour drive, thank you) begging for food and a bed. Yea, fun. Our wake up call came at 4AM, thanks daddy-in-law, and needless to say I was a bit grouchy. However, I pulled it together and was so glad that we went.

After we ditched the rents, we headed out to Myrtle Beach. Yea, we were the only young people there. But hey, it’s beach revamp season and the prices were CHEAP! From there on out, oh it was fabulous! Wonderful sites, wonderful time, and quite alone time with my husband (gasp!). It made me want to run away with him and just be beach hippies. Fun days.

But, we’re home. I’ve done 5 loads of laundry and cleaned up all of the crazy messes our cats got into. (While the cats away the mice will play.) I’m tired and ready for my nap… Right after I unload the dishwasher, do my daily Bible reading, layout clothes for church, iron, and call my husband– it’s his 24 hr shift at the fire department.

So, I’m off…
