Happy Frugal Friday Everyone!
I hope everyone is finding great deals while out shopping. If you find anything online or out in stores that is too good to pass up leave a message so that others can benefit. Recently there have been a lot of stock up sales. With our economy the way that it is, grocery stores have really hiked up prices (it’s not just me, right?) so, I suggest finding your local RiteAid, Walgreens, CVS, etc… and finding their sales papers. They usually have pretty good sales around this time and if you’re lucky they will be giving a rebate with purchase. Happy Hunting!
Frugal Cheese Drop Biscuits
I always make these when I have a bit of Bisquick or cheese left over.
2 c. Bisquick
1/3 c Milk
1/3 c. Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Sprinkle plus of Garlic Powder
1/4 c. Melted Butter
Sprinkle plus Garlic Salt
Directions: Mix Bisquick, Milk, Cheese, and Garlic Powder until it forms biscuit like consistency. Drop onto baking pan, bake for 8 minutes at 450 degrees (note: my oven bakes very hot so I usually put it on 425). While biscuits are baking melt your butter with the Garlic Salt. Once biscuits are fresh out of the oven, drizzle your Garlic Salty Butter over the top. Enjoy! My husband raves about these biscuits. I can’t make enough or too often.

With Thoughful Thursday upon us, I thought I would share a beach picture from our vacation just because I’m still dreaming about it.

Isn’t it gorgeous? This was taken on one of our many walks along the beach. It always made me a little tired because the sound lulled me to sleep.
Lots of fun days!
I read this following passage not too long ago (in the midst of the financial down-fall of our economy) and it spoke such comfort to me. I hope it does the same for you.
Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. Isaiah 35:4
At the end of the day, the stock market might crash, the electric bill may be late, your car may stop running, but “fear not”. The author of your faith will come and rescue you from this dieing world. Fear not, He will bring judgement, He will loosen the final rewards, He will step out of His home in Glory and extend a hand when you feel as though you are falling. He’ll catch you even when the government cuts the string. You’ll be alright. For whatever reason in days like these, when times are tough, I always think of the footprints poem. And, I remember that the Lord, God Himself has me snuggled up carrying me and my husband. Even though we may not have much, we still have our salvation. That’s enough.

Much to do today, Wednesdays tend to be more hectic than others. I don’t know about you all but it seems as though just when I think I’ve caught myself up on things, I find more that needs to be tended to. Some how vacations tend to be a lot of work after you return home. This baffles me. I scrubbed this house before we left. No joke, I was on top of the kitchen cabinets polishing them. Crazy, I know. I just hate coming home to a dirty house and so I clean before we leave. The house didn’t appear nasty nor would I be nervous about inviting people over. However, it seems as though our lovely little kitty-cats left no stone unturned while we were gone. I’ve found paw prints everywhere. Needless to say, once again I’m cleaning and trying to get things back to normal. I love vacations, though. I’m still dreaming about that ocean and the waves….. calgon take me away!wlw.jpgwlw.jpg
I’m being reminded of the work load our Savior must have carried. I imagine His workload on earth was quite a task. Yet, He never complained. So, in the midst of choas, running errands, phone calls, and laundry I too need to remember to take it all with a grain of sand. At the end of the day, when His children are called home what will the speck of dirt on the floor matter anyhow? Don’t misread, you should care about what you have been blessed with. Far more, especially now-a-days, have far less. However, stressing out and becoming a pain to everyone around you is not what we were designed for. Take time out of the work load to appreciate the debt of love Christ has given for you. Remember his workload. Yours won’t seem too difficult after that.
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour , working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth . Eph 4:28

My lovely husband and I have just returned from vacationing. It was a wonderful few days and something that we truly needed. Thanks in part to Robbie’s younger brother who graduated from Marine Boot Camp (hoorah!). We’re all so very proud of him. It’s amazing how the military takes a young kid and turns him into a respectful young man. It was emotional to see him so grown up.
When we left, I really thought our vacation was going to stink a big one. Literally. We’ve been planning and budgeting for this trip for months. We found hotels that would allow us to do some cooking in the room, which would have been great, if I hadn’t have bough deli turkey meat. In case you are unaware, deli turkey meat tends to smell, well, unpleasant. Our coolers were packed to the rim and turkey smell kept wafting into the car. Foul doesn’t begin to explain it. And, did I mention we got lost like a blue-million times? Bro-in-law graduated from the Parris Island area and who ever came up with the layout must have wanted to make it as difficult as possible to get there. At one point I remember (after a 12 hour drive, thank you) begging for food and a bed. Yea, fun. Our wake up call came at 4AM, thanks daddy-in-law, and needless to say I was a bit grouchy. However, I pulled it together and was so glad that we went.
After we ditched the rents, we headed out to Myrtle Beach. Yea, we were the only young people there. But hey, it’s beach revamp season and the prices were CHEAP! From there on out, oh it was fabulous! Wonderful sites, wonderful time, and quite alone time with my husband (gasp!). It made me want to run away with him and just be beach hippies. Fun days.
But, we’re home. I’ve done 5 loads of laundry and cleaned up all of the crazy messes our cats got into. (While the cats away the mice will play.) I’m tired and ready for my nap… Right after I unload the dishwasher, do my daily Bible reading, layout clothes for church, iron, and call my husband– it’s his 24 hr shift at the fire department.
So, I’m off…

The “modern woman” often times looks at Proverbs 31’s Virtuous Woman as out-of-date and out-of-touch. The fact of the matter is, what was true a thousand years ago in the Word of God is true and applicable in today’s world. The difference? It takes a little more effort. Through studying and the willingness to receive what God expects of women, the virtuous woman is obtainable. After all what’s wrong with trying to be the woman God has called you to be? Blessings await for the faithful. To begin with, let’s take a look at what is so particularly special about this lady, and what our Heavenly Father expects of us. The virtuous woman demonstrates: unwavering faith, a strong and dedicated marriage, mothering gentleness, a hospitable spirit, dedicated service, a proper outlook on her finances, a diligent worker, an efficient homemaker, time management skills, and inward beauty only given by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Quite a list! Why? It’s God’s call to the woman to be the heart of the home, the quiet strength, the up-lifter, the joy of her husband, the blessing to her children, and the light for God; and as the months progress, we’ll pluck each characteristic to examine and look at practical daily application skills. It takes dedication to follow in her footsteps. Many times, I’ve stopped just to awe at her abilities and wonder how I would ever match up. After all, she managed to do all of these things at the same time. Mastering one or two is pretty obtainable but the whole list? Becoming the virtuous woman takes time and persistence. Why follow in this virtuous woman’s lifestyle? Because our Heavenly Father has expectations for every woman currently enjoying His creation. He chose this particular woman, plucked her out of her time period to show an example of what our potential can and should be. Though the time gap is large, Christ’s expectation continues for women. Though we may feel as though we are unable, our Father whispers words of encouragement and instruction to those who take the time to follow the example set before us.
